Xiaomi just unveiled a brand new wearable device, the Xiaomi Mi Band 2. Despite the name, it’s the company’s third fitness tracking device after the Mi Band and Mi Band Pulse. It track your steps, monitors your heart rate and (for the first time) features a tiny display. It costs RMB 149, or a little less than $23.

The new Mi Band 2 improves on the last heart-rate tracker with an “upgraded pedometer algorithm” and a 20-day battery. The band is also water resistant. Optical heart rate sensors typically work by shining an LED light into the skin and measuring how the light is scattered by blood flow.

Interestingly, Xiaomi mobile also borrowed a popular Apple Watch feature. If you’re sitting for too long, the Mi Band 2 will vibrate to remind you that you should move.

Though still relatively unknown outside its home base of China, Xiaomi has gained a healthy market share for both its smartwatches and its fitness bands. The company has been among the top smartphone makers not just in China but across the world. In the global wearables arena, Xiaomi scored second place last quarter behind Fitbit by selling 3.7 million devices.

The Mi Band 2 is compatible with Xiaomi Mi5, Xiaomi Mi Max, Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi Mi6.

Today’s new device uses Bluetooth 4.0 to connect to your phone and battery lasts up to 20 days. It is water-resistant and the silicon bands are replaceable. Xiaomi is going to start selling the xiaomi device in China on June 7.
