Chinese smartphone vendor Xiaomi Mobile has started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat update for Xiaomi Mi Max. The update has started appearing in devices in Germany and would be propagated to the remaining countries soon. The build number for the update stands at MIUI 8.5.1.0.
The update is available only for 3 GB variants currently and nothing has been confirmed or reported about 4 GB variants.
The update will have an overlay of MIUI 8.5.1.0. As we already know, like many other vendors, Xiaomi prefers to customize the raw Android with Mi flavor. As a result, the ultimate update will be somewhat different than what we have noticed so far in Nougat phones. The new features will include more efficient CPU resource allocation, new toggles for common settings in search results, a new choice to hide the content of notifications on the lock screen, and better optimization facilities.
This is an over-the-air firmware update and users with Mi Max can either wait for an automatic update notification or check the update themselves manually through the settings.
Xiaomi has been in the news frequently of late. Very recently, an ambiguous video had appeared online which showed a user unlocking a Xiaomi Mi6 with a fingerprint sensor embedded under the display and the company has also launched a range of accessories like Mi Wi-Fi Repeater 2, Mi Bluetooth Speaker Mini and Mi Power Bank 2 in India this past week. The Xiaomi Mi Max is the predecessor of the latest high-end device Xioami Mi Max 2, It will release a Snapdragon 660 version.
