Xiaomi to launch Redmi Note 5 Pro in China

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus in the closing days of 2017. Many were discouraged that the Redmi Note 5 is not arriving, but the Plus-version became the long awaited successor of the Redmi Note 4 on the global stage. Instead of leaving China without the emblematic phone, Xiaomi will just reboot the dual-cam Redmi Note 5 Pro as Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.


The Chinese version will have the same specs - Snapdragon 636 chipset, 4/6 GB RAM and 12 MP + 5 MP camera setup on the back. The selfie snapper will be 20 MP, the battery will be 4,000 mAh and the user interface will stay MIUI 9. The one difference on the Chinese market will be the lack of Google services on the phone, starting from the Play Store.

Recently there are a lot of leaks on the xiaomi new machine, Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S and Xiaomi Mi7 frequent exposure. The current Mi Mix 2, uses a LCD panel and moving to OLED panel will also be an upgrade for the upcoming Mix smartphone. The Mi 7 on the other hand was rumored to feature a 6.01-inch OLED display to begin with. Both phones are expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, which the flagship SoC from Qualcomm. The chip was recently seen powering the Samsung Galaxy S9, Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and the Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 compact.

Previous reports suggest that the Xiaomi Mi 7 might sport two 19MP cameras at the back with f/1.7 aperture and 4X optical zoom. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 on the other hand is rumored to feature a 16MP rear camera. Xiaomi Mi 7 is rumored to have a 3350mAh battery, whereas the Mi Mix 2S might feature a 4400mAh battery. The Mi 7 is also rumored to feature an in-display fingerprint scanner along with facial recognition.
