After the successful launch of its newest flagship -- Xiaomi Mi5, Xiaomi is believed to be preparing for the release of a phablet, referred to as the Xiaomi Max.

According to GizOK, news out of China has published what appear to be some early images of the Xiaomi Max. The industry follower said that while remaining unconfirmed, the said images seem to come straight from the China-based tech manufacturer's production line, and showcases the front panel of the rumored Max iteration. It is also revealed that the new Max seems to be a blown-up version of the Xiaomi Mi5 Pro, at least in the form factor and design.

However, there also seems to be minor differences, like the absence of a physical home button. It is believed that the Xiaomi Max, although it doesn't have a home button, will still feature a fingerprint reader by having it integrated on the back of the device like how it featured in the Mi 4s and Redmi Note 3.

As for the screen size, it is still uncertain but many believe that the Xiaomi Max may come with a 6.4-inch one. Its pixel resolution, power under the hood, as well as other specifications are yet to be confirmed, but there are also predictions that the device will most likely carry a Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processor.

While there will supposedly be a fingerprint scanner on the back, much like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro. Interestingly, Xiaomi will not borrow the front facing fingerprint scanner from the Mi 5 for the smartphone, suggesting that this could be more in line with the company's other offerings. Or maybe Xiaomi wants to keep that particular aspect exclusive to the Mi 5.

The industry observer also said that since the Max is getting some ideas from the Mi 5, it can be expected that it will feature the same ceramic-backed design as with the current Mi flagship. This will make the Xiaomi Max one of the strongest phablets for this year, and will also complement well with the Xiaomi Mi6 flagship, because Mi6 will be used Snapdragon 830 processor.
