If you own a Chinese smartphone, you probably know that these products usually get updated quite late. Even in Xiaomi's case, a company that has managed to create a name for itself in the crowded Android ecosystem, updates are quite sluggish. And that's why we should be thankful for the developers' work. Some Xiaomi Devices might get a sense of Android 6.0 earlier.
A few days after Android 6.0 Marshmallow officially started rolling out, Chinese developer Ivan announced on Weibo that it was prepping the first developer version of Android 6.0 for the Xiaomi Mi3. The build is expected to be offered soon.
Surely, this is still a work in progress and "soon" doesn't mean we should expect the new build to arrive tomorrow, but hopefully in a few months' time. It will certainly take Xiaomi even more time to develop the next-gen MIUI 8 ROM based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, so we shouldn't complain.
Ivan also notes that, after he is done with the Xiaomi Mi3, he will go on to focus on the Xiaomi Mi4 flagship and Xiaomi MI 4C. The Chinese company is expected to launch its next-gen Xiaomi Mi5 flagship by the end of the year. Will we see Marshmallow on it? Probably not.
Furthermore, Ivan says he will try and install the build on the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 and on the high version of the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro.
