Xiaomi is apparently working on a slightly improved version of the already available Redmi Note 2 phablet. This is reportedly going to be called Redmi Note 2 Pro, and today out of China comes the first leak about it.
Huawei Phone recently dethroned Xiaomi to become the top-selling device maker in China, but Xiaomi is expected to fight back with a new device soon enough. The purported Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro is rumored to feature nearly identical specs to the existing Redmi Note 2 smartphone, but add a fingerprint scanner and a sleek all-metal design for a more premium look and feel.
By the size of its cutout, we assume the flash will be a dual-LED (and possibly dual-tone) affair. The speaker will be on the lower part of the back, while the power and volume buttons will be on the right side of the phone. The top and bottom parts of its back will be made out of plastic, and that's where all the antennas will live.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro is expected to have a 5.5-inch display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, which would translate to a pixel density of 401 ppi, and pack an octa-core Helio X10 processor, PowerVR G6200 graphics and 2 GB of RAM, among the highlights.
If the device does indeed come with largely the same hardware specifications as the existing Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, it should also pack 32 GB of built-in storage space, expandable via microSD, a 13-megapixel main camera on its back, a 5-megapixel selfie cam and a 3,060 mAh battery. As previously mentioned, at least one version of the Redmi Note 2 Pro is also expected to feature a rear-mounted fingerprint reader for extra security and convenience. On the software side, the device should run MIUI 7 on top of Android (likely Lollipop.)
Aside from the Redmi 2 Pro, there are also reports that Xiaomi is readying another flagship, this time a follow-up to its Redmi Note 2 phablet or Xiaomi Mi5 Phone.
