Xiaomi is reported to be unveiling its next flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 5, this coming December 3, if recent reports are true, according to a report in Tech Times. If it does unveil this device, it will be one of the first smartphones to sport Qualcomm's latest processor, the Snapdragon 820.
On the other hand, Qualcomm has yet to announce the existence of its upcoming Snapdragon 820, which is considered to be a high-end processor that is devoid of overheating issues that hounded its previous processors. According to Tech Times, the company may be debuting its newest processor by the end of November, which it is likely to do even before a smartphone makes use of it.
Rumored specs for the Xiaomi Mi5 have includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or MediaTek Helio X20 processing chip, 5.3-inch QHD display, 4GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel Optical Image Stabilization rear camera and an ultrasonic high-speed fingerprint scanner.
Many also believe the teaser suggests a launch of two smartphone. Currently, there are rumors surrounding launches of two new Xiaomi phones, the Xiaomi Mi5 and the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 pro. Through the year, Xiaomi has launched several devices, and prior to each launch there has been speculation as to whether the smartphone maker would launch the Mi5. However, the device remains unofficial.
For the meantime, Xiaomi listed the other specs of the Mi5 to include:
- 5.3-inch Quad HD (1440x2560) display with 554ppi pixel density
- 4GB of RAM
- 16GB or 64GB storage space models with no support for external memory expansion
- 16-megapixel back camera with dual-LED flash and eight-megapixel front-facing unit
- 3,030 mAh battery
- USB Type-C port
Xiaomi has yet to confirm any rumors about either device, it may be made available in the market by 2016. Xiaomi however has kept mum about its latest flagship Xiaomi Device, which is one of the most anticipated smartphones presently.
