Xiaomi has announced two tablets thus far, and their latest offering was announced last month. The company has introduced their second-gen Mi Pad tablet along with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 handset during an event in China. Now, the 64GB variant of the tablet apparently sold out in under a minute this morning.
It's unclear how many copies of the Mi Pad 2 were actually sold. Xiaomi sometimes rolls out its devices in small batches, which may explain the news. Then again, given the tablet's budget-friendly price, sleek metal design and solid specs, we're guessing demand was pretty high as well.
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 sports a 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 IPS LCD display along with 2GB of RAM and 16/64GB of internal storage. The device is fueled by Intel's Atom X5-Z8500 quad-core SoC clocked at 2.24GHz which ships with Intel's HD Graphics. The 8-megapixel snapper can be found on the back of this tablet, and a 5-megapixel shooter is available up front. Android 5.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Xiaomi's MIUI 7 OS available on top of Google's OS. The 6,190mAh battery is also a part of this package, and the tablet itself comes in Dark Grey and Champagne Gold color options. The Mi Pad 2 measures 200.4 x 132.6 x 7mm, while it weighs 322 grams. This tablet sports three capacitive buttons below the display, menu, home and back buttons, while both its power / lock and volume rocker buttons are placed on the right.
There's no word on when Xiaomi will have more tablets to sell, but hopefully it won't take too long. We're still waiting for the company to bring its phones and tablets to the U.S., though it may want to work out these supply issues first. Hope that in March 2016 released the Xiaomi MI5 and Xioami Redmi 3 will not appear such problem.
