There is a lot of excitement and hype around the Xiaomi event scheduled for 27 July. It is likely that the company will release their first two laptops at the event, along with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 phone. This will mark Xiaomi's debut in the laptop market.
The Redmi Note 4 will reportedly feature a metal unibody design with antenna bands across the top and bottom. The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right. The device will probably be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. Internal storage is expected to be 16GB, with the ability to use microSD cards.
The fourth-generation Redmi Note phablet will feature a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 1080x1920 pixel resolution. It will be powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The other is the Xiaomi Redmi Pro or Xiaomi Redmi 4 will feature a 5.5 inch display, a MediaTek Helio X20 deca-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 4,100 mAh battery, a 13MP rear camera, and a 5MP front-facing camera.
As for the laptop, a series of pictures and specs have been leaked in the past few days. If they’re accurate, the Xiaomi notebook will feature a 12.5 inch display, 8GB of RAM, a Core i7 Skylake processor, and a USB Type-C port.
It’s possible the Xiaomi laptop may come in two sizes (around 11 inches and around 13 inches), and that the specs we’re seeing may only be for a top-of-the-line model. It’s also possible that the photos and specs are fake. Like I said, we’ve been hearing about Xiaomi’s supposed laptop plans for years, but the company has yet to actually launch one. Maybe that’s about to change… but maybe not.
