Xiaomi added another member named Xiaomi Redmi Pro to their already impressive and growing lineup of smartphones. Earlier rumors suggested that Xiaomi would launch Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. But the company launched Redmi Pro along with Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air.
Xiaomi Redmi Pro has a 5.5-inch full HD OLED display. The smartphone gets a brushed Aluminium design with CNC chamfered edges, and a front fingerprint sensor. Redmi Pro runs the MediaTek’s Helio X25 chipset with 10-cores (Two A72 cores), which is clocked at 2.5 Ghz and has a Mali T880 GPU for more efficient gaming. There’s also a version with MediaTek Helio X20 processor.
What's interesting here is that the lenses aren't the same. You have a 13-megapixel Sony sensor and a 5-megapixel Samsung sensor. The Redmi Pro combines image data from both cameras to let users adjust the depth of field they get, so they have a chance to play around with the amount of blur. The effect works best when shooting portraits and closeups, setups where you want the focus on what's in front of you.
Xiaomi has also launched the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air at the event, which the company claims is thinner than the Apple MacBook Air. Mi Notebook Air has a 13.3-inch full-HD display, edge-to-edge glass protection, and a full metal body.
As for prices, the Redmi Pro starts at RMB 1,499 (around $225), but for that amount you'll get a variant with Helio X20 SoC, 3GB RAM, and 32GB storage. The version with Helio X25 chipset, 3GB RAM, and 64GB storage costs RMB 1,699 (around $255), while the top model with Helio X25, 4GB RAM, and 128GB memory will set you back RMB 1,999 (around $300). Color options include Gold, Silver, and Dark Grey. Pre-orders for the devices are already available in XiaomiDevice.com.
