Xiaomi, the Chinese internet company that was valued at $45 billion, will hold a press conference at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona next month to launch its Mi 5 flagship smartphone, but the company says it has no plans to announce an expansion into the European market — at the moment.
XiaomiDevice managed to gets it hands on a few photos of the Mi5's packaging, revealing what looks like the final design. Xiaomi will apparently offer the device in gold, pink, white and black. It also sports a metal frame and a fingerprint reader in front.
Confirmed details regarding the Mi 5's features and specifications are thin on the ground, to say the least. We know the device will ship with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor, and that's about it. Rumors have claimed it will have a QHD resolution 5.2-inch display, and have a 6-element 16MP camera on the back with 4K video recording.
However, those were regular rumors. Given that the information this time has come directly from Xiaomi's chairman, it's all but official that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will include these features. And the good thing is that we won't have to wait long for these to become official, as the smartphone will be officially unveiled in just a few weeks from now.
