Today, Xiaomi confirmed it has already scheduled a press event on February 24 where the Xiaomi Mi5 will be officially unveiled. No additional details on the matter have been disclosed, but Xiaomi's official promised more info on ticket sales and rules will be offered on January 26.
With the event locked in for next month, Xiaomi Mi 5 should arrive right on schedule based on the 18-month idea. The longer wait of Xiaomi patrons prove fruitful as well. According to LeiJun, Mi5 will be available a week later on Tuesday, 1st March. For the first batch of sales, Xiaomi seems to have planned some sort of a booking system. This makes perfect sense since Xiaomi devices are notorious for selling out very first.
According to the latest rumors, Xiaomi Mi5 will boast a 5.2-inch display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, and an 8-megapixel camera in the front. Also, the Mi5 has been confirmed to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, paired with an Adreno 530 graphics processing unit and 4GB of RAM. The smartphone will be powered by a 3,600 mAh battery and will include a fingerprint sensor.
Images of a metal chassis that belong to an unknown Xiaomi Device surfaced. The phone does not resemble the Mi 5, but does bare a resemblance to the Apple iPhone 6s or the HTC One M9. Note how the person holding the chassis is wearing finger cots. That is something that you might see used on an assembly line, which means that the photos are either legit, or the mastermind behind them knew to include the finger cots in order to make the images look real.
Some believe that the chassis belongs to the Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus. This is a larger screened version of the Mi 5 that has been rumored for some time to be accompanying the new flagship model. As soon as we find out more information about this unknown handset, we will pass it on to you immediately.
