Xiaomi has become one of the world's largest smartphone manufacturers in the last couple of years. This company has been founded 5 years ago, and their growth is quite staggering. Xiaomi has introduced a number of devices this year, including smartphones, smart TVs, and various other tech devices. Now, Xiaomi will reportedly be sending out an OTA update starting today morning at 11am in China, to disseminate the latest version of its user interface.
The handsets receiving the updated UI will include the Xiaomi Mi 3, Xiaomi Mi 4, Xiaomi Mi Note Pro, Xiaomi Mi 4C, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Xiaomi Redmi 2, Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime, Xiaomi Redmi 1S, Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime, Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Xiaomi Mi Pad 2. A ROM containing version 7.1.2 has already been made available for the Xiaomi Mi 2 and Xiaomi Mi 2S.
If you own one of the devices listed above (not including the Mi 2/Mi 2S), you need to make sure that you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, and that your battery is powered up to at least 50% prior to downloading and installing the update. Since it is being sent OTA, MIUI 7.1 will be distributed in waves. This means that if it doesn't hit your phone precisely at 11am tomorrow, don't panic. It might take a few extra days, but MIUI 7.1 will eventually hit your phone or tablet.
Now, as you've probably noticed, there are some devices missing from this list, and Xiaomi is actually rumored to list additional models on January 11th, so if you own any of the Xiaomi devices that are not mentioned, hang on tight, we'll report back if Xiaomi decides to add any additional models to this list.
