After more than a year of different leaks, rumors, and speculation, we are finally going to see the Xiaomi Mi5 in just a week, unveiled at this year's MWC. Xiaomi, as you may know, is a China-based manufacturer that became popular thanks to offering phones with great hardware at bargain prices. While thus far it has been selling its handsets only in Asia, the fact that the Mi 5 will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona makes us hopeful that it may be the first Xiaomi smartphone to be sold internationally.
The Xiaomi Mi5 is expected to come equipped with a 5.15-inch display and a Snapdragon 820 clocked at 2.15 GHz. However, a fresh set of leaked slides from the launch presentation points at slightly different specs and this seems to be due to the very fact that Mi5 will be made available in two variants just like most of the other flagships.
Other specs of the Xiaomi Mi 5 shown in the presentation include a USB Type-C plug with Quick Charge 3.0 feature, a 26MP shooter on the back, with a super bright F/1.6 lens and a Dual LED flash, from which we have already seen some impressive samples. Continuing down the leaked slides, we also find mentions of NFC, as well as the new Wi-Fi ad standard - a truly first in the smartphone world.
Based on preliminary leaks, the Xiaomi Mi5 will come in two memory and storage versions - 3GB of RAM with 32GB inbuilt storage, and 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage. The Xiaomi company is also said to use a pressure-sensitive touchscreen, which will be a technology similar to Apple's 3D Touch-like pressure sensitive technology.
