Xiaomi's latest flagship phone, the Xiaomi Mi5, will make its official debut next Wednesday at Mobile World Congress 2016, and the rumor mill is churning out plenty of Mi 5 dish. Here's what I've heard so far, along with my best guesses about what the phone will bring.
So far, there have been a number of leaks talking about hardware, possible features, camera prowess, and revealing the alleged looks of the upcoming handset. A graphic designer gathered the latest leaked images and made a concept render of what the Mi 5 may end up looking like.
The phone will also likely be clad in metal. Xiaomi has been moving away from plastic bodies since the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro. The company has experimented with glass and matte plastic, but I don't expect that here.
As far as rumored specs, Mi5 include USB Type-C, microSD expansion, Cat. 10 LTE, dual-SIM, Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and the return of NFC. The site mentions a previous leak that shows a 3,000 mAh battery as well. As always, you can't take these specs as final until Hugo Barra takes the stage in Barcelona, but they certainly make for some interesting comparisons with the Galaxy S7 and LG G5, especially when we take price into consideration.
Excited to see the Xiaomi Mi 5? It's about to be unveiled on the 24th February at the MWC and we are definitely going to be getting a closer look!
