The Xiaomi Mi5 - the flagship from rapidly growing Chinese company Xiaomi that is big in Asia - will be officially announced on February 24th, 2016 with a global event held in New York, Barcelona and New Delhi.
We have posted two new images of Xiaomi Mi5 revealing that the device will house a physical home button with a metal ring on the front-panel at the bottom. Past reports had suggested that the home button would come integrated with fingerprint sensor similar to top-end Samsung and Apple smartphones. Once released, Mi5 will be Xiaomi's first device to house a metal-based home button featuring biometric technology.
Xiaomi Mi5 appears to have tried its best to have the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner technology, but this aspect may not become a reality just yet. Instead, the phone will have the 3D touch element that provided a gimmicky aspect to the iPhone 6. This feature is expected to improve a number of areas in the android operating system and it may be incorporated into other android smartphones in the near future.
Another information that reached our ears is that Xiaomi will release its new Xiaomi Mi 5 with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, Xiaomi Mi Note Pro, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro, Xiaomi Redmi 3 will be gradually upgraded to Android 6.0 system.
Unfortunately, it's not yet clear whether the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be available in the United States or Europe. So far, Xiaomi has only officially sold its phones in Asia.
