Xiaomi Mobile has started sending out press invites for a September 27 event. While the invite doesn't explicitly reveal anything about the star of the event, the letter 'S' it features is enough to suggest that the Mi 5S will have the spotlight on that day.
The Xiaomi Mi 5s smartphone is expected to be the beefed-up version of the Xiaomi Mi5 Pro flagship smartphone. It has been leaked on various occasions revealing key features and specification details. The smartphone will feature upgraded specifications over the Mi 5, but the big talking point will be the Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.4GHz. Just to compare, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is powered by a Snapdragon 820 chipset.
It is to run Android Marshmallow with a layer of MIUI 8. On the camera front, rumours point out at a 16MP rear snapper, and a 4MP front-facing camera. Another rumours hints at a dual camera module on the back that is expected to come from Samsung. A fingerprint scanner, which should somewhat look like the Caseme iPhone 7 Plus Case tactile home button, has also been rumoured.
With the unveiling now expected to take place a week from tomorrow, we wouldn't be surprised to see some more leaks over the next few days. Over the weekend, images of both the front and back of the device surfaced. If you're interested in following what is happening with the Xiaomi Mi 5s, check in early and often.
